Lilly Kaighin Memorial Award
This event is always held around Nov. 13th, which is when Mollie Cardamone, Mayor of Sarasota and a former Lassie, decreed it Lilly Kaighin Day.

The regatta is held in Lilly’s memory.
The whole Lassie organization comes out and supports this event and many members of the Kaighin family attend and watch the races.
The trophies are highly coveted by our pram and sunfish sailors. They are hand carved by one of Lilly’s sons.
Awards are presented by Lilly’s family at a luncheon held after the race.

Luffing Lassies Anchors Aweigh Award
This award is voted on by the Fleet Captains and given to a Lassie, who demonstrates the most tenacity, perseverance, and determination in her quest to be a sailor.
It is less about skill and more about having a positive attitude, showing an ability to laugh at oneself, and being good-natured in the face of setbacks.
The Anchors Away Award symbolizes overcoming obstacles that weigh us down.

The Luffing Lassies In Memory of Suzanne Burt Award
Suzanne’s husband donated this beautiful plaque in her memory.
The gift deed reads, “In recognition of that person who best exemplifies the spirit and competitiveness of the Luffing Lassies.”
It truly is a cherished award—the entire membership votes on it by secret ballot.

Captain's Award
This annual award from the Captain is presented to a Luffing Lassie whose leadership and love of sailing have inspired, motivated, encouraged, and strengthened our sailing organization.
The Captain bestows this honor with gratitude on behalf of the entire membership on a very special sailor for their tireless commitment to the Luffing Lassies.

I.T.S. Ahoy Award
Penny Durham and Linda Tiffan gifted this award in honor of the ITS Sailor(s), whose dedication and spirit helped shape this year's class into true Luffing Lassies!

In the Drink Award
This award is presented to the Luffing Lassie, who is exceptionally skilled at capsizing. Over the years, it has been bestowed on some of our most accomplished sailors.

Most Improved Sailor est. 1978
The captain, along with the Fleet Captains, determines and awards this trophy based on the race results for each class throughout the year.

Top Sailor of the Year Award
The total points for each series (fall, winter, and spring) are tallied for the sailors. The sailor with the fewest points earns the Top Sailor Award. Points for 420 and Sunfish are calculated separately.
